About Helly Hansen Newport
Helly Hansen is the first outdoor apparel brand launched in Norway in 1877. Over decades Helly Hansen has grown to be a trusted brand for sailors, skiers and outdoor enthusiasts around the world.
Helly Hansen Newport was founded over 20 years ago by Newport local Jay Lasky. Jay, an outdoor lover himself, founded the business with the mission to outfit customers with the best possible gear for the activity they would be doing. Located on historic Thames St in Newport our store has been an essential for the local sailors, boat crews and community. We have outfitted teams and crews across the country including events and races such as Newport to Bermuda, American Magic and The Volvo Ocean Race.
Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is made up of a small team who all enjoy the outdoors and are passionate about the brand. We love recommending our favorite products and outfitting our customers for their latest adventures. We can't forget to mention our store mascot, Captain! Captain is our beloved Portuguese Water Dog who loves greeting our customers and meeting their 4-legged friends.

Jay has owned and operated HH Newport for 28 years and our store remains the
oldest and only licensed Helly Hansen store in North America.
Jay is at the store on a daily basis assisting the team and making sure customers needs are met. He is an outdoor enthusiast and loves taking Captain on the boat and skiing in the winter!
